Is offbeat and occ-colour humor sinful?

I began to think of this when I recently viewed the famous (or infamous) Monty Python “Dead Parrot” sketch on youtube, as well as a “Death to Barney” video. Both were hilarious.

Is offbeat or off colour humor like this sinful?

Well what makes you think it’s sinful? Taking a look at the reasons that cause you to think it’s sinful and then reading the catechism about what those are may help you in the meantime.

Though in all honesty, this is something to ask a priest about. You’ll get a range of answers all the way from No Sin to Mortal Sin on this forum. We’re not theologians.

I misread your title as “ocular” humor. :S

As has been stated, you should consult with priests, rather than random people on the internet.

I can’t imagine God as being too thrilled with the likes of George Carlin, Lewis Black, Howard Stern, anything with the “comedy” label on HBO, and all those other kinds of guys. Also, Monty Python and their humor is very critical of Christianity, and differing views have been put forth as to whether or not “Life of Brian” is supposed to be a parody of the New Testament or a Biblical epic and “general organized religion” satire. So those are all things to keep in mind. (I was a big Python fan as a preteen)
