Is Oreck a good vacuum cleaner?

For those of you with an Oreck, is it a good vacuum cleaner. I have tile floors and don’t know if it is good for this type of floor. I need a light weight but good vacuum. I have a dog and am allergic to dust mites. If you don’t have a Oreck, but have a good light weight vacuum, please let me know. I have a Kenmore canister now and hate it. I need an upright. The canister is broken and need to buy a vacuum soon. My dog sheds a lot.
Thanks.

Orek is light weight, extremely light weight. Orek has good suction. Orek odesn’t do a better job in my opinion than any bagless vacuum at Target.

Hoover, Oreck, Dirt Devil, Eureka, Rainbow et al. I HATE em ALL equally. There is NO such thing as a “good” vacumn cleaner. I’d rather undergo a root canal then vacumn the house.

In my experience, the Oreck vacuum cleaners are very lightweight and work well, but they break often. In some instances, making the vacuum lightweight means using flimsy plastic parts.

I like both my Oreck and my Dirt Devil. (Especially since they were gifts and I didn’t have to pay for them.)

But I hear ya about the not liking to vacuum. However vacuuming costs less than a root canal.

I loved my Oreck.

I bought a Miel and let the business have the Oreck…don’t tell anyone, but I’m thinking about an Oreck again…

It’s just so easy!

But LOUD!

Bissell liftoff. I love it.

My 2 year old and 4 year old also love vacuuming with it…

My first vacuum cleaner was a Hoover upright. It lasted about 25 years. After that, I was replacing vacuum cleaners about every year or two. I invested in an Oreck in 1999 and it runs like a dream. Cost more, but not when you consider what it costs to replace the $150 ones that break in 18 months. And the Oreck maintenance guarantee (bring it in every year for a check up and they guarantee everything for 25 years) is terrific. Assuming you are organized enough to do that, which I am not. 😃

Yes, I’m one happy customer . . .

As a veteran of 3 root canals, let me say that I would rather vacuum the house than have to undergo another one.
Anyway, I have a Sears Kenmore canister vac which is now literally being held together with duct tape. I need a new canister, but the ones they have on the market today have big, clunky nozzles–power-assisted, with brushes & rollers. I need to get under and around furniture and go from carpet to bare floor frequently. But I can’t find a canister vacuum cleaner with a small nozzle. Suggestions, anyone?

If you are in the market for a vacuum that will last a long time, I would go with a Dyson. I LOVE mine. It’s not as light as my old Oreck, but it works much better and goes seamlessly from carpet to bare floors.

I had an Oreck for 18 years. I thought I loved it. Then it broke and I bought this Bissell last weekend. I was shocked at how much more it picked up. It took 4 vacuumings of my living room in a row before the little container was not getting full of dirt and pet hair. I vacuumed 3x a week with my old Oreck and changed the bags about every 6 weeks. Wow, was I missing a lot.

Our Hoover broke in 12 years - actually 8 but made it work until the motor died 4 years later.

Next was a Bissell which broke in 15 months.

Just moved onto a Dyson which we currently love and hope it lasts much longer. It is really a nice machine which can do any floor easily in the house.

OOh I just bought this one too( but I paid 129.00). I love it. I only have carpet in the basement playroom but it gets a LOT of kid and dog traffic, so I wanted something decent to pick up all the dog hair and keep the brand new carpet nice for at least a little while.

Well the first time I used it I could not believe how much it picked up! I thought it was going to suck the carpet off the floor the suction was so good.

Never had an oreck, but my mom does and I’ve used it…light bit doesn’t seem to be anything special??🤷

It is so interesting that you mention this one, for we needed a vacuum now since we have a dog that sheds so much and bought this one today. I paid at a military base $159.00 for it. It could be this one or the one above this one for ours is blue. I am happy to hear it performs well. I will see once my hubby puts it together.
