Is original sin equivalent to normal sins like murder or adultery? Wasn’t completely sure how it worked.

Why do we inherit this stain? The Original Sin was an sin, and a grave one.
What we inherit is the stain of Original Sin, it’s effects. Which is different that stating that we receive the culpability of the sin.
The spiritual effect of the loss of Grace is restored in Baptism. The natural effects, such as sickness, death and impairment of the will ( concupiscence) is not removed.
Because human nature was corrupted by original sin.Why do we inherit this stain?

The Catholic teaching takes the center spot between the two Christian extremes regarding Original Sin. For example. Our human nature was not totally corrupted. Our human nature was wounded which means that we still have the ability to seek God and be obedient to our Creator. We are wounded in that we no longer have innate mastery of ourselves. We now have to work to be good. Still, God continues to offer us His saving grace. John 3:16Because human nature was corrupted by original sin.
