Is paganism close to Catholicism?

A person i know who calls herself Catholic (but hardly is) was at a party with me. Then in front of about 20 people says, “Do you know how close Paganism is to Catholocism?” What do you say to that? This is definatly not the first time that my beliefs have been bashed in front of people. I just said, “I hardly think that when we’re at a party and drinking alcohol we should discuss religion.” Not exactly an answer i was really proud of beucase i wanted to prove her wrong but didn’t know a good, short answer to say to her. Anyone got any good ideas?

How about: “Yes; about as close as black is to white!” Then challenge her to look both topics up in Wikipedia.
