I’m not sure, but I’m pretty sure it’s OK to pray while petting a cat 🙂

Pray without ceasing. There’s never a bad time to pray.
 
That’s the wrong way to phrase the question. Can you pray while petting a cat? Of course!

(That’s just a variant of the praying while smoking joke.)
 
Holly, if you pray out loud, you might accidently train your cat to expect to be pet while you pray. Not that I have any experience with this. 🙂

You’re my kind of people! I volunteer at a low-cost spay/neuter clinic & pray for the kitties. One volunteer said she was chewed out by a minister for helping cats instead of people. But some of us do better with animals than people. As the sparrow said, “One does what one can.”
 
This little anecdote keeps coming to mind.

There is a woman who babysits her grandchildren a lot.

She holds them and her rosary “beads” are the toes of her grandbabies.
 
Petting cats may negate the efficacy of the prayer since cats are evil. Try getting a dog. 😉
