So is using websites to get ideas or papers written for you consider a sin even though they are getting paid to do the work for you?

Plagiarism is stealing someone’s work directly. Using resources to learn and generate your own ideas is not the same thing.

If you pass off their ideas as your own, yes. You have to give credit where credit is due. How would you like it if someone got credit for something you spent years studying/working on?

Think about it this way. You are commissioned by your king to write an orginal piece for him in his honor so he can show you off to his court. Instead of actually writing, composing, playing and making orginal music, you literally take the work of Johann Strauss II, copy everything but the name and credit it as your own. Like renaming “Vienna Blood Waltz” to “Hey’s Mumbo #5”

You successfully trick your king and his Orchestra into thinking it is your own orginal work. The night of the concert comes and you play your work. Your king is amuzed but his court is not. They know this is Strauss and not an orginal Heysus. You end up dishonoring yourself and embarrassing your king by your plagerism and literally commit fraud. You are lucky the king doesn’t execute you for what you did and instead get the punishment a fraudster would get (most likely heavy fines and prision time).

In biblical terms, you are bearing false witness. Which is a sin.

Does it honestly matter if it is a sin? You are taking credit for other people’s work. If you aren’t able to do the work yourself, maybe you need to think about finding another occupation.

If someone else is writing it for you, it’s not stealing.

If you pass it off as your own work, it is lying, which is a sin.

It’s also not good for you. If you are a student, plagiarism is cheating yourself out of the opportunity to improve yourself. Getting a better grade is a very short-term gain. Developing the ability to think is worth much more, and will last for a lifetime. Do your own work, do it to learn, and do it to build character.
