Is playing a crusades game immoral?

Recently I’ve been really interested in the Crusades, probably because I’ve met some muslims.

Now one of my hobbies is creating games, so I decided to make a Crusades Risk-style board game in which you try to gain territory and convert people and amass an army.

My question is, is there anything immoral about this? Would it be immoral to play as “Islam” for the sake of the game?

IMHO there’s nothing wrong in principle with playing a fantasy pseudo-historical game and taking any “side” in it.

But the real problem is the game makers’ apparent false assumption, which is sadly very common, that the real historical Crusades were intended to gain territory and convert people and amass an army. The aim was to protect unarmed Christian (and Jewish) civilian pilgrims to the Holy Land from being murdered and robbed by Moslem State-sponsored terrorists.

Nahh, the game would be fine. Interesting even although, with the point of Risk being conquering territories, historically inaccurate, as pointed out.
