Is playing the lottery a Sin?

My family plays the lottery i just wanted to know is that a sin?
 
Honey, I just need to let you know that your topic is going to probably be moved since this is probably not the correct forum. There are MANY different forums within the main forum, and this one is probably appropriate for the “Moral Theology” forum. When you have something to post, it belongs in one forum. This forum is for vocations, but there are other ones. The way to see them all is to click on “Home” at the top and each one has an explanation about which topics belong in which one. In a word no. HOWEVER, if a person plays the lottery to the extent that his family suffers (IE - can’t afford food, bills can’t be paid, etc) then it DOES become sinful.
 
No it isn’t a sin, unless of course you had an addiction and it got between God. I play every so often. All just for fun and the slight chance of winning.
