You do realize that “Landover Baptist” is a parody, right?

LOL. It’s just a game, sad thing is there are actually people out there who believe that and aren’t joking around ike Landover.

Well this exact thing has been on my mind. So much that I was might post a topic… Then I saw this.

For those who don’t know, the Sims series is a life simulation game where you control a family, all while they use their free wills based off their personality traits. The next passage is asked based on Sims 3.

There’s this interaction in the Sims called “woohoo.” When this action is fired, two Sims will disappear under the cover of a bed and giggle. To all young people who don’t know what this may be, it looks like an act of jumping in the bed. Is this pornographic? I don’t think it’s sexually explicit, and I don’t think the purpose is to arouse sexual desire… More like get laughs (as that’s where the charm of the game comes in: It’s a life simulator with a bunch of ridiculous things).

I’m not sure it’s a sin against chastity- unless you are tempted so easily to impurity that blurred computer graphics cause you to fall (if you’re tempted that easily, playing a computer game too much isn’t your biggest problem- you need to meet with a spiritual director). Games like this can have other problems though. There are always new tasks to complete that only require a few more minutes- it’s so tempting to play “just a little longer.” After awhile, those few more minutes add up and before you know it, you’ve been on the game all night. Playing these games in moderation is ok, but the games are set up to keep you playing “for just a little longer.” That’s a problem when you’re neglecting your health or school/work/social responsibilities.

Well, to avoid sin, when I want them to have babies I turn off the sound and look away for about 20 seconds. Done. I think it becomes sinful if you make them woohoo because it turns you on…

to the other posters, do you find that baptist site offensive? even though it is a hoax, it seems a bit discriminate…

If I was a Baptist, I would be extremely offended. It makes a mockery of Baptists’ faith.

(Having said that, I recognize that there are a wide variety of Baptists out there and there might, in theory, be some small splinter group of Baptists whose faith is accurately reflected by the views expressed on that site…but…they would be in the extreme minority)

I’m not a Baptist, so it doesn’t hit me personally. But I think it is offensive to mock other peoples’ beliefs.
