Is playing this game sinful?

I just found this new game on the internet called Civilization Wars, you can check it out if you want (it’s kind of silly). I was wondering if it would be sinful to play such a game seeing as it talks about things like “the Ancient forces” and you obtain magical crystal power, and so forth. It also has characters that look kind of evil and pagan.

Anyway, is it sinful as long as you don’t take it seriously?

I play Rome total war. they refer to the gods and other things, I dont take it seriously. If the game is cutting into your social life, or work life. then it could be an issue.

In the U.S., there’s Roman statues everywhere and occult symbolism. Obviously no one here feels threatened by the U.S. dollar. I still not have gotten rid of my Pagan statues, but I have them in my closet shelf, facing the wall. When I first converted back, I felt a panic that I had them. But now I know that if I don’t think of them as icons of gods I worship, then they’re nothing more than sculptures. The same kind of sculptures I’d see in a museum.

I’ve often heard the challenge to Tarot that your trust should be put in God and not tarot cards. However I’m sure that those who say that have a smoke alarm in their house even though they believe in God.

The one proper use for Tarot cards is playing a few hands of tarocchi.

Look, I sympathize with you if you’re trying to pull a Charles Williams sort of interpretation, but Tarot has been too misused for that. If you really want to use a randomizer to explore your psyche, you wouldn’t pick something associated with divination and the occult.

As long as you can keep the fantasy out of your reality then it really should be no problem. UNLESS you spend far too much time on it so it interferes with your real world repsonsibilties like work or school or prayer, it should be no problem.

My favorite game used to be “Diablo”. it too had spells and demons etc, but it was one heck of a game. Enjoy your games, just keep the spells in the game and don’t dabble in the occult in the real world.

I once got chewed out from some over zealous lady for awarding stuffed animals like peekacho (sp?) as prizes in a fund raiser. I thought the lady was nuts and I still do. Some folks go off the deep end and look for evil or potential evil around every corner.

God knows the difference between a game and reality, just make sure you do too.
