It is easy to be an outsider when you do not feel like part of the community. My suggestion is to get involved. Perhaps there are 20 something groups in a parish - but there is also needs for volunteers for everything.
My wife and I recently moved to a small town. This was the same advice that I gave her. It really did not sink in at first, and she did the usual and started looking for easy friends (mostly others who did not feel like part of the community). After about 6 months, an “accident” happened and I volunteered her for the churches music ministry (she was a music major in college when I met her). One thing has led to another and now not only is she part of the community, but her faith is a far larger part of her life…
