Is praying to the saints biblical?

I have some Evangelical friends who have me stumped. I’ve been trying to explain that we do not worship the saints, only ask them as holy men and women to pray for us. My friends say that the Bible says that talking to dead people is sorcery and that we are encouraged to bring our requests to Jesus, who should be our only mediator, so we should have no need to ask others. That the saints’ prayers would not be heard any “better” simply because they led holy lives.

My question is: Does it mention anywhere in the Bible about praying to saints?
