My parish priest and I had an argument about Purgatory, He told me it no longer was a valid teaching, created falsly in 1500. What is the church’s teaching on Purgatory?
Joey Nilan
The doctrine of purgatory is a dogma of the faith and must be believed by all the faithful. This doctrine has been a constant teaching of the Church and was clearly formulated by the Council of Florence in the 15th century and further defined by the Council of Trent in the 16th century.
