Is putting a cross under my pillow whilst I sleep superstitious?

Ever since I was young, my mother used to put holy pictures under my pillow so that I will be blessed by the saints, and now sometimes I do that as well. Sometimes I put a holy picture and other times a Tau cross that I wear around my neck. I could not help wondering though if it superstitious of me to do this. I hope an Apologist answers me.
