“Muslims say the Quran is directly from Allah, but I doubt it. I see in it the thoughts of a man, not the words of a true God…”
It also says the sun sets in a muddy spring and goes to rest under Allah’s throne at night! Can these really be the words of God???Well, they say it is the direct word of allah, but there are too many mistakes in the book to suggest it is work of man.
E.g The quran says the earth is flat!
to quote the Quran, “bring your proof if indeed you are truthful.”E.g The quran says the earth is flat!
Yes, the biblical verses that talk about the earth’s shape, especially in the Psalms, can be interpreted as saying the earth is flat. The difference is that Catholics understand that David and the other writers of the OT were not trying to tell us about the shape of the earth but merely describing what they knew about it as they praised God for creation. You know I just did a quick search on the internet and found that according to some sources and interpretations the Quran does in fact claim the earth is flat! And so does the Bible… so, unless you guys just want to go round-and-round over this one I don’t think it is going to be a strong support of either faith’s claim of truth. Just my opinion though.

(Vol. 6, pp. 565-566)As for the other side of the earth it is surrounded by water. *[Note: Admittedly, Ibn Taymiyah - as all Muslim scholars of his day- were not aware of the Americas and believed that the Old World was encompassed by an ocean.] * There are no human beings or anything like that [on that side]. Even if we were to imagine that people were on that side of the earth, such individuals would still be on the face of the earth. Those on that side of the earth are not below those who are on this side; just like those on this side are not below those on that side. For as all spherical bodies surround a center point (markaz), no one side of a spherical body is under the other, nor is the north pole under the south [Note: Unlike Western maps, Muslim cartographers (map-makers) would draw the world with the south-side up.] or vice versa.
Obviously, it wasnt revealed to uphold the trinity, it was revealed to clarify the true way to believe in God, the original way related by the previous Prophets like Abraham and Moses and (as Muslims believe) Jesus. Its a fact the trinity concept of God did not exist before christianity, but that the God as a single person and Being was what was revealed and believed by the previous nations, the Quran just upholds that concept of God.Folks I still say read it. It is not so much the inaccurate cosmology as the personality & attributes of the god that is portrayed that shows it is a false holy book. It directly contradicts every teaching about the Trinity.

Yes, this is why attempted theological conversations about Islam seem to go around in circles. It doesn’t just deny the trinity…it denies the progression of God’s revelation of Himself throughout human history. It denies the effects on mankind of the loss of the original goodness and original justice by Adam and Eve, it denies the need for mankind’s redemption, it twists the purpose and true meaning of covenant, and the Koran reflects no understanding of grace, holiness, sacrifice, sanctification, and the Kingdom of God and the New Covenant ushered in by Christ. It denies God as the loving father He desires to be to us. It denies the union and intimacy God wants to have with us.
Mohammed’s confusion and lack of understanding is evident all over the Koran (yes, I have read most of it.) ** His solution to his confusion was to try to take God’s salvation plan backward to the “faith of Abraham.” If someone tried to enlighten him, he simply called them liars and said they changed the books. If someone challenged him to think about God more fully, he simply forbid his followers to think beyond the “revelations” he was giving them. ** While it’s a highly commendable and desirable thing to trust God as Abraham did, God’s true salvation plan had moved far beyond the days of Abraham.
Zainab, the wife of Muhammad’s adopted son:
Muhammad went one day to the house of his adopted son Zaid Bin Harithah. When he arrived, he found out that his adopted son wasn’t home, and that his son’s wife, Zainab, was home alone. As she came to the door, his eyes met hers, and Muhammad said, ‘Praise be to the one who changes the hearts and the sights.” He felt her love in his heart. She became aware that he had a certain desire for her. When her husband came back, she told him what had happened.
There were two problems with this situation. First, Zainab was married, and second, her husband was Muhammad’s adopted son. Islamic law forbids a man from marrying his son’s wives.
However, from that day on, Zainab mistreated her husband by showing him she was not interested in him any longer …
And Muhammad would tell Zaid,
“Keep your wife to yourself, and fear Allah” (Surah 33.37)
Islamic history says that Muhammad then decided to ask Zainab to marry him, even though this defied Islamic law about a man marrying his son’s wives. Oddly, Muhammad sent Zaid to deliver the proposal. Zaid went to his ex-wife’s house and found her preparing flour to make bread. Zaid said of the moment, “When I saw her, I could not even look on her face because I still loved her.” But he dutifully delivered the message from Muhammad. His ex-wife replied, “Allah must tell me to marry him (Muhammad).” She told Zaid that she was going to the mosque to pray. So Zaid went back to Muhammad and told him what happened.
While Zainab was still at the mosque, Muhammad reported a new revelation from angel Gabriel.
Behold! You said to one who had received the grace of Allah and your favor: “You retain (in wedlock) your wife, and fear Allah.” But you hid in your heart that which Allah was about to make manifest: you feared the people, but it is more fitting that you should fear Allah. Then when Zaid had dissolved (his marriage) with her, with the necessary (formality), We joined her in marriage to your: in order that (in future) there may be no difficulty to the Believers in (the matter of) marriage with the wives of their adopted sons, … (Surah 33:37-38)
I find that it is amazing that Muhammad personal love affair was solved neatly by a revelation that abrogate the former Islamic law that prohibited marrying the wife of one’s son… Of course later on to make thing very legalistic, Muhammad also received a revelation that abolished adoption. This revelation specifically said that Allah commanded Zainab to be married to Muhammad. The verse also pointed out that this marriage would help other Muslims by showing them that it was permissible for a man to marry his adopted son’s former wife if the marriage had been properly dissolved …
