My children want to read books that have characters in them that have magical powers. Is this wrong according to our faith and would it be harmful to their spirituality? I have read CCC2115-2117 regarding magic but it seems to leave this question open. The children are not going to practice magic but the fantasy books are very exciting to their sense of imagination. Where is the line drawn between innocent imagination of powers and harmful God-offending (or Satan supportive) magic as evil. This question also comes up when choosing video games to play on DS or the computer. Please help me as I waiver between understanding. I have how all magic and sorcery is of Satan and we put our trust in God and his powers which are supreme. My children talk intelligently with a discussion of we know and trust in God and we will not repeat these examples in play but we just want to read the story because it’s interesting and adventurous or it’s just a game. I’m not sure if there is an appropriate rebuttal to that!
