Is Reconciliation required before Eucharist?

I go to daily Mass and receive Eucharist daily as well. If I commit a mortal sin, I have been told by a priest in Reconciliation that if I say an Act of Contrition, I may receive; but, I must go to Reconciliation at my first opportunity. I go to Reconciliation weekly. Do I commit a Sacrilege when I receive the Eucharist after committing a mortal sin, saying an Act of Contirtion with sincere sorrow for my sin and before I go to Reconciliation?
