If so, what happens if I don’t go see the Bishop? Does that delay my RCIA journey in any way? My previous faith background was nondenominational Christian, so my Baptism wasn’t valid.

Why are you going to miss the Rite of Election?

If you have some family or work obligation or something, that is one thing.

To just not go because you don’t feel like it ia another matter.

I will be undergoing Rite of Election this March 9. You should make every effort to attend! By becoming an Elect it means you’ve entered the final phase of your RCIA journey by making your intent to join God’s Holy Church! You will go before the bishop and your name will be entered into a registration book for the Elect. Afterwards, during Lent you will undergo the scrutiny. There are multiple ones, and this is where the priest calls you up and says special exorcism prayers to help purify your soul of the devil’s influence, so that you will be fully prepared to receive the sacraments come Easter Vigil.

I myself am so excited and can hardly wait! It’s just a couple more weeks away for the Rite of Election in our diocese!

OP, do try and attend everything you are asked to.
Welcome home!

Scott, it is clear you are excited to become Catholic! May God bless you! Welcome home!

They want me to go, therefore I have to. but that doesn’t tell me if it’s mandatory.

It wasn’t done with water or in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Just in the name of Jesus.
