Is salvation restricted to Catholics?

It has been said (by many Catholic apologists) that there is no salvation outside the Catholic Church. Would it be more accurate to say that there is no salvation outside of Jesus Christ? We know from Scripture that He refuses no one who comes to Him in faith.
