Is saturday mass a vigil?

The sign infront of the church lists saturday as a vigil and sunday as a mass. Is it correct for me to say I went to saturday mass. thanks.
 
The Saturday Mass is no longer called a “vigil” Mass, however the language has stuck around.

A vigil Mass is a Mass of anticipation, it is an awaiting of the feast. It thus has its own readings and prayers. On the normal Saturday evening Mass the Mass is simply the Sunday Mass. You therefore simply attended the Sunday Mass on Saturday evening.
