Is schism an inevitable result when humans form large groups?
We all know of the reformation and the separation out various denominations from the Catholic church. But we see plenty of other examples. In the US alone there are plenty of groups campaigning for either succession or dividing states. Groups in Texas, Alaska, and California have pushed for it. All 3 Abrahamic faiths have countless sects. And I’m sure there’s other examples across history and present as well.
