I have been exploring the biblical figure David and while researching his sons I noticed the one of them (born of Bathsheba) is named Shobab, and the name Shobab in Hebrew means; turn back, turn against, rebellious or apostate. I wonder if the name is supposed to imply that this the son that was born through David’s seduction of Bathsheba and died as punishment for his sin, what do you think?

I don’t think so, but I’m no expert! 🙂

The child lived for just seven days. He was not circumcised nor did he receive his name because that was traditionally done on the eighth day. He would have remained nameless.
