I have for some time now been chanting (quitely) the part of the mass, “Let us proclaim the mystery of Faith: Christ has died, Christ has risen, Christ will come again. Christ has Died, Christ has risen, Christ will come agian.”, and it hit me that this might be a sin, scince I am not at church (I am at or driving to school or working on something). Is any part of what I am doing a sin? Thanks and God bless (in advance).

It seems to me that this is a prayer. Nothing more nor less.
You are praising God.
True, that prayer is used as part of the Mass, but so is the Our Father, and the Confiteor. Neither of those would be in the least sinful to pray outside the Mass.

In fact…thank you for the idea. 🙂

This is no sin, but rather, praise! Father Vince, correct me if I am wrong! I frequently repeat the “Through him, with him and in him, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honor is yours almighty Father, forever and ever” throughout the day… :yup:

Not to get picky but isn’t it “Christ has died, Christ IS risen, Christ will come again?”

Oh, Sorry. With a bunch of people from all forward dirictions (I make it a point to sit at the back of the Church, It’s a Montie thing) it sounded like “Christ has Risen” and plus I always figured that was the grammatically correct form. Guess I was wrong.

I’ve always prefered the older form: Mortem tuam annutiamus, Domine, et tuam resurrectionem confitemur, donec venias; roughly, “We announce your death, Lord, and proclaim your resurrection until you come again.” It also has a nice dark tune in the chant (if you can find a Liber Cantualis).

Also, today’s trivia: this name for this part of the Mass is the anamnesis.

I TOTALLY DO THAT TOO! I usually sing the wrong parts of the Mass too, like during Lent I will sing a Christmas Chant or during Lent I will sing about Easter. God knows I have a lambie brain, simple but well meaning.

Prayer is prayer as far as I am concerned! 🙂 I think you get 10 bonus points for meditating on the Mass during the day.

PS- I thought it was “has risen” too. Yet another slice of humble pie for me this evening. I am getting full!

Um hello Mr. Geek speak. Anamnesis? Someone should get out of the library occasionally. 😃

By the way, I am allow to say this, he is my DH.

**What’s a DH? (Forget my unfamiliar knowledge)

I don’t see it as a sin at all!! 🙂 Besides, outside of Mass, I chant the Agnus Dei.

And one of the prayers from the Divine Mercy Chaplet.

And when I pray the basic prayers, I chant them out loud in my own tuning! 😉

If it’s a sin, then my salvation would be at stake! :D**
