Is skiing on Sunday sevile work?

Well, my family and I are skiing in Colorado this spring break. Tomorrow, we plan to ski, since we don’t normally don’t get to and we find it to be a fun experience (after you get through all the getting ready ).

So, servile work or not? We think of it as an extremely fun thing to do -especially since we live in an area where there is barely ever any snow -let alone ski-able. But then, are we causing others who operate the ski-lifts, etc. to do servile work? I mean, we’re at a ski resort right now (and skied today), and I don’t think it would make a difference if we skied tomorrow or not.

No…and I imagine it will fit right in with the joy of the day so I do not think it will in other ways interfere(see below) …and some people of course have to work for you to do this sport (see the CCC below)

Skiing is recreation. No worries. Enjoy (I though have never skied…I would break something)

But live the Lords Day…not only with Mass of course (one needs to attend Mass)…but live “according to the Lords Day”

Skiing, for me, is like standing in a refrigerator tearing up hundred-dollar bills. But I hope it is very much better for you.

Oh, and I’m guessing that eating at a restaurant isn’t inflicting servile work onto others, right? Of course, the restaurant would have to be close so as to not cause unnecessary work, I think.

I have known people who wouldn’t go out to eat with my friends after Mass because it causes people to have to work on Sundays. That is laudable but it is not necessary.

Sanctifying Sundays and holy days requires a common effort. Every Christian should avoid making unnecessary demands on others that would hinder them from observing the Lord’s Day. Traditional activities (sport, restaurants, etc.), and social necessities (public services, etc.), require some people to work on Sundays, but everyone should still take care to set aside sufficient time for leisure. With temperance and charity the faithful will see to it that they avoid the excesses and violence sometimes associated with popular leisure activities. In spite of economic constraints, public authorities should ensure citizens a time intended for rest and divine worship. Employers have a similar obligation toward their employees.

Wait, this just reoccurred to me (even though I knew this from a while ago but looked over it). When does the Sabbath day start and end?

Saturday evening is when it starts (specific time?)
and Sunday evening is when it ends (specific time?)
