Is skyrim worth buying?

That just put a ridiculous grin on my face! The picture you put in my head with the sword summoning was hilarious.

I will say there can be some bad stuff in there, but that is only if you play on the pc and go out of your way to find pervy mods. And that is definitely not Skyrim, that is ALL on the user and the rare independent gamers that create codes for it. But like you already said - true up to a certain point.

If magic was real, I’d totally go rogue/illusionist combo.

Sadly, it is not.

[Than the lusty arQUOTE=akela135;10079016]My answer is slightly different. I really liked Skyrim although I’ve played through almost none of the plot. I’ve spent most of my time traveling the world and collecting plants for alchemy and then working on smithing. I guess I’m some what simple minded that way. I like hunting the animals (wolves, bears, etc) and then making leather crafting projects. And of course all clothing changes your character so I’ve play “Barbies” a lot with my avatar. I found out you could have dogs as companions so I have one of those following me around now too.

My DH on the other hand also really liked Skyrim but he actually worked on the plot. I watched him work through it some and nothing seemed overly violent (for video games now a days) and for the most part he played a good character.

I think Skyrim is fun but it really depends on what type of gamer you are.
Uh, there is a DLC where you could build your own Barbie dreamhouse and adopt children, also there is marriage.
👍

For the people who comment about sexual content in Skyrim I have read far dirtier things in Shakespeare than the Lusty Argonian Maid.

Oho… is that so? is surrounded by Atronarchs What do you think my friends? A worthy adversary for the Archmage of Winterhold?

Both my boyfriend and I are very excited about the Barbie dream house DLC!

For the PC version of Oblivion we played, he found some shop mods that sold fashion and armor and installed them for me. And of course the hair and face cosmetic mods. My redheaded wood elf ended up looking like the Black Cat from the Spiderman comic books somehow.

Hearthfire actually seems like fun.

Skyrim is super-great.

My main complaint is that your character can get too powerful and then the game stops being challenging thus not as fun.

I did too much “wandering” before I took on the main quest and so my character was just way to strong and the finale was super-easy. I was at level 41 (I think).

Also, the story isn’t spectacular- but all things considered- Yes I would highly recommend the game.

There’s a main quest? 😛

I have been off of Skyrim for months. I got lost in a dungeon and just got annoyed and said “I’ll put this away until later.”

I’m dong Borderlands 2 and since last night, Dishonored.

I have dawnguard but never did it and I will get the new one- I am sure that will draw me back in.

Just wait and see how easy the main quest finale is- a little frustrating.

I have a macbook air and have been contemplating getting Diablo 3 but don’t know if I will. I haven’t played computer games in. . . uh. . . . 15 years or so. 🙂

I actually ended up buying the game have already gotten 15 or so hours out of it. Nothing seems overly offensive, and none of it makes me want to become a wizard in real life. I have known people who are negatively effected in this regard, though. It’s pretty sad.

The thing about sandbox games like this is that they allow you to choose whether or not to have a moral compass, and mos importantly, give consequences for breaking the law. If you kill an NPC, the guards will arrest you or put a bounty on your head. I like RPing a morally good character. For instance, atop one of the mountains there’s an old orc looking to die gloriously before he gets old and “useless” you can either try and talk him out of it, or fight him to the death. I told him he’s still got a lot left in him and shouldn’t give up so easily. He doesn’t listen, unfortunately, and keeps waiting for his “good death”, I guess.

What I know of the game’s lore is pretty cheesy, though. It just doesn’t try hard enough to put its own mark on the fantasy genre. I mean, they even made the orcs originate from elves just like in LOTR.

The interface is a lot better than morrowind, but it was clearly designed with consoles in mind.

I’ve accidentally killed Lydia a few times though 🙂 She seems more annoying than helpful

My husband and son would say yes.

They have it for the PS3, and we just got it for the PC.

Correction, they arrest you for killing NPCs if there were witnesses… Dead men tell no tales.

There are orcs like that all over, they are randomly generated.

I am a keyboard person so using the keyboard for the menus doesn’t bother me.

It’s been the opposite with me to be honest. She’s the reason why I managed to beat my first Dragon Priest.

Although in other cases, I stopped counting on her too much. 😛

Dawnguard was a cool side story and the vampire armor is a refreshing change. I will say, however, once you’re able to play that quest line (I believe level 10?) start it immediately and end it as soon as possible. The vampires will kill npcs in towns and I have no merchants in Riften aside from the ones underground - they were all slaughtered. Even with the speechcraft skill that allows me to sell anything to any merch I still have to bounce towns to empty my inventory without giving things away for free. They’ve probably made a patch for it by now; I haven’t played in quite a while.

Since the majority of my skills are in stealth and archery, fairly early in the game I’m able to clear a cave before anyone sees me. It sounds like my character is OP but if I get caught in a melee or under spell fire I’m in big trouble. That keeps me on my toes when I play.

The game could use some nerfing on the character, though.

Seriously?

If someone plays Skryim and it makes them want to “become a wizard” then they have faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrr more problems than Skyrim. Forgive me, but that is just as silly and ludicrous as wanting to become Santa after seeing a Christmas movie, or Jesus himself after seeing Passion of the Christ.

I like that there are random vampire attacks on the towns because it feels more “real” and random, but losing every single merchant that you can talk to without waiting out a loading screen is cruel and unusual.

I still want a patch!

I heard a new DLC was coming out.

It’s called “Dragonborn”

YOU CAN ACTUALLY RIDE DRAGONS IN THIS!!

“FEAR ME VILLAGERS!”

I can’t wait 😃
