Another salvo from my blog
This is a follow-up to “Is Welfare just another form of Slavery?“

What I am talking about is the radical socialism of today based on Marxist (with tints of Fascism and Nazism) ideology. In this socialist system, the person is not free. They are property of the state with no rights or freedoms. Religion is abhorred and Free Will is squashed with violent intent.

Yes, the end of the cold war and he fall of the Soviet Union did eliminate some of the threat, but it did not wipe it out completely. Far from it. The rise of China as an economic power and the Marxist takeover of Venezuela by Chavez are two prime examples.

Even in non-Marxist Socialist countries, we are seeing more and more freedoms taken away, especially when it comes to Religion and Speech. Moral issues are being politicized and thus being turned against religion. This is especially true when it come to homosexuality, abortion, and euthanasia.

Finally, within the United States, we have seen stealth Marxism taking over via the liberal agenda. This is especially true when it comes to the Democratic Party. There is growing dissatisfaction within the part with it incessant leftward march. Those who do not follow the “party line” are censured and punished.

Socialism in this form is incompatible with Catholic Social Teaching and was condemned with Liberation Theology that tried to combine Marxist Socialism and Catholicism. This form of Socialism must be opposed at every step before it robs us all of our rights and makes us slaves of the State.

Comparing things to slavery is sort of disrespectful to those who lived through it.

Slavery is not necessarily literal slaves and masters. One doesn’t need to be confined to a plantation to be a slave.

Just wait, I am working on another “slavery” idea. This one will send quite a few over the edge.

Socialism is absolutely slavery as it strips all human dignity away.

Peregrinus, why do you feed the idea that anything Religious is Right Wing? Just curious.

I’m sorry to see that you think slavery is something to be batted around for leisure conversation in order to stir up conflict. Using it as a point of comparison time after time is just ridiculous. It shows a lack of perspective about what real slavery involves. There are still people being trafficked in this century and in this country.

To define it, Wikipedia says this:
“The 1926 Slavery Convention described slavery as “…the status and/or condition of a person over whom any or all of the powers attaching to the right of ownership are exercised…” Slaves cannot leave an owner, an employer or a territory without explicit permission (they must have a passport to leave), and they will be returned if they escape. Therefore a system of slavery—as opposed to the isolated instances found in any society—requires official, legal recognition of ownership, or widespread tacit arrangements with local authorities, by masters who have some influence because of their social and/or economic status and their lives. The International Labour Organization (ILO) defines forced labour as “all work or service which is extracted from any person under the menace of any penalty and for which the said person has not offered himself voluntarily”, albeit with certain exceptions of: military service, convicted criminals, emergencies and minor community services.[10]”
And adds this:
“In its narrowest sense, the word “slave” refers to people who are treated as the property of another person, household, company, corporation or government. This is referred to as chattel slavery.”

I’d say Socialism is not another form of Slavery!!!

By right’s of Citizenship, the Country more or less owns you, altho it is a ‘mutual’ thing, thereby making it not slavery.

🤷

Socialism is absolutely slavery since it robs people or their inalienable rights.

I don’t fault people who choose to live under this system, but more often then not they’re all too willing to force it on a society through legislation and at the point of a gun.
