Do you believe that Jesus’ Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity are present in the Catholic celebration of the Eucharist? Thanks for your reply.
This is what it boils down to…for me at least.
The question is, “What exactly did Paul have in mind when he penned 2Thess 2:15 and used the word “tradition”?”
I see no reason to believe that Paul meant the immaculate conception, assumption, treasury of merit, etc…at least not without accepting Rome’s authority.
That is what most non-Catholic Christians reject as a “tradition.” However, in 1 Cor. 11, Paul explains that one must recognize Jesus in the celebration of the Lord’s supper–not only recognize Him in memorial–but discern His BODY–at the risk of damnation.
This tradition is referred to by Paul in reference to heresies occuring in Corinth.
**1Cor.11
27] Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.
28] But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.
29] For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body.
30] For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.
