I was told once by a Baptist friend of mine that Joan of Arc is no longer considered a saint by the Catholic Church. Now i know not to take statements about the church by non-catholics as the absolute truth, but is there any truth to my friend’s claim, are there any other saints who might fall into this category?

Dear Lind,

Your Baptist friend is uninformed. St. Joan of Arc is very much considered a saint in the Church today. For more on her, log on to this link:

Did you know that Baptists don’t believe that baptism is a sacrament, but just a symbol? With a name like that, one would think otherwise. With Sts John (Jn 3:5) and Mark (Mk 16:16) we believe that Baptism really does something to us. It makes heaven possible for us. So we have a deeper understanding of baptism and St. Joan of Arc besides!
