Is St. Maximilian Kolbe a good intercessor for diabetics?

I am probably wrong in questioning the answer given by an apologist (and will probably be ignored, if not expelled) but the answer that Michelle Arnold gave to the person asking about a patron saint for diabetes was shocking. Comparing the lethal injection used to murder St. Maximillian Kolbe with the life-saving injections that some diabetics use is stunning.

Rather, diabetics should pray to St. Paulina do Coracao Agonizante de Jesus who was a diabetic and cared for sick sisters in her order. She died in 1942 at Priranga, Brazil, of complications from diabetes and was canonized in 2002 by Pope John Paul II in Rome.

Thank you for your feedback. I had not heard before of St. Paulina, and agree with you that she would be a fine intercessor for diabetics.

I must say though that to suggest that Catholics invoke St. Maximilian Kolbe’s intercession for diabetics because he was killed by lethal injection is no more “stunning” a development in Catholic piety than St. Lawrence of Rome’s intercession for cooks (he was martyred over an open grill) or St. Stephen’s intercession for headache sufferers (he was stoned to death). Catholic piety seems to delight in reveling in the triumph over death through death by the Church Triumphant (cf. 1 Cor. 15:54-55).
