Is sterilization wrong all the time?

My friend recently shared with me that his wife had sterilization surgery. The justification was that her last pregnancey was difficult and the doctors stated her next pregnancey could jepordize the moms health. I informed them that sterilization of any kind is wrong and that NFP or chastity should be practiced. My friend informed me that “God and the bible guarantee the married couple the right to have sexual relations.” I know he’s wrong is there anything in the bible that backs his statement.
