Is there ever a time when suicide isn’t considered a sin? What if someone is so upset they can’t think straight and they commit suicide, Is that a sin? Or a solider who came back from Iraq and saw some many terrible things, Would it be a sin then? 🙂

For someone to be culpable of any grave sin he needs to have full knowledge that it is a grave sin, do it willingly, and do it knowing what he is doing.

Soldiers who have had bad experiences need help dealing with them, not suicide, of course. I would say that any soldier who claims his war experience already had issues or was unsuited to deal with the sorts of things soldiers have to do/see in battle. The same could be said for anyone who commits suicide who has a previous condition that makes it hard for him to deal with the difficulties of life.

OP-If your worried that you, or someone you love might be suicidal, there ARE options

1-800-273-8255 is the national suicide hotline.

I’m sorry that I might seem to jump to the conclusion that you or someone you love is suicidal, but I lost a loved one to suicide-I know the pain it can cause. When someone even asks something about it, I tend to get very worried.

Again, I apologize, but I’d rather err on the side of caution.

Jesus, our Lords peace be with You.
Yes,it is. We haw no right to end the life God gaves our self. Talk Your priest dear friend, and he will find a way to help. And I offer one Hail Mary for You. And if it is You who are thinking abour suicide, don’t do it!
Sorry for my bad english.

Did God didn’t do suicide om himself? Since Jesus is God, and God wanted Jesus dead as an offer for sin? Isnt that a suicide?

Nah, He died for us so that we would not perish but be given the opportunity for eternal life.

I can’t remember the exact definition but It’s not suicide

The trials and Cross of Jesus Christ have nothing to do with suicide. Incorrect thinking and fundemental lack of understanding.

Suicide is the 8th Sacrement of Satan. And is in direct conflict with Gods desire for the Soul. Its a spiritual battle thats won by evil.

Suicide is always grave matter, but may not always be a sin. In order to consider suicide seriously, a person must be in terrible pain, physically, psychologically, or both. Such pain must surely diminish one’s freedom to choose, and a mortal sin must be freely chosen.

Also, please recall God’s great love and mercy. Often there is time, even a split second, between the act that causes one’s death and the moment of death itself. The slightest repentance in this short time is enough for God to save the person.
