Is Sunday a first or seven day of the week?

Is Sunday a first or seven day of the week in our catholic tradition ? For many years I believed that this is the seventh day and a ceasing or resting from labor is because God rested on that Day after creation …, Some time ago I’ve learned that this is a day in commemoration of the Resurrection of Jesus, which makes perfect sense … am I correct ? It’s first day, a symbolic metaphor for the eternal “rest” that we enjoy in Christ, and commemoration of the Resurrection of Jesus ?

The Sabbath is the seventh - so Sunday is the first & the eighth. Sunday =/////= the Sabbath 🙂​

I believe it starts with Advent, at least in NO (ie after Christ the King, which, focusing on His return in glory is the last day of the liturgical year) :hmmm:

Yes, the Liturgical year starts on the first day of Advent.
 
From our Christian standpoint Sunday is the first day of the week.

I suspect this confuses people in some countries because there the *LEGAL *week begins on Monday and thus Sunday becomes the last day of the week. I always assumed that was because those in such countries were thinking that Sunday was the day of rest and thus should be the seventh day. At least that was the impression I got from my high school Spanish teacher, Sr. Marie T. But I don’t know how that would jive with Acts 20:7.
