Sunday is not the Sabbath - Christians accept this. So, does that void Sunday as regards the 3rd Commandment?

Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor, and do all your work; but the seventh day is a sabbath to the LORD your GOD; in it you shall not do any work.

Is the 3rd Commandment strictly a Jewish obligation?

Sunday IS the Sabbath day. The Sabbath has been moved from the 7th day to the 1st (or 8th) day of the week.

I don’t understand why you would sat that Christians “accept” that Sunday is not the Sabbath, because this is one of the most basic tennets of Christian belief and practice.

OK. I checked the Catechism and NOW I can understand the confusion.

2175 Sunday is expressly distinguished from the sabbath which it follows chronologically every week; for Christians its ceremonial observance replaces that of the sabbath. In Christ’s Passover, Sunday fulfills the spiritual truth of the Jewish sabbath and announces man’s eternal rest in God. For worship under the Law prepared for the mystery of Christ, and what was done there prefigured some aspects of Christ.

For Christians, the sabbath observance has been moved from Saturday to Sunday, and Sunday has become the Christian Sabbath, while the Jewish Sabbath remains Saturday.

As far as the question itself goes, though, yes. For Christians, the third commandment applies to Sunday.
