Is taking home the Elijah Cup permissible?

My church offers a family every week to take home the chalice that was used in Sundays communion to pray for vocations, its called the Elijah cup. I wanted to make sure this was okay to do before I sign up to take the cup home. I think there is something in the old Testament that says you should not take the vestments away form the temple.
