Is The Assumption 8/5 still a Holy Day? Are there Holy Day Masses Anymore?

I think the problem here was probably in looking at the diocesan website for timely parish information - and not the faithful observance of the Assumption. I doubt there are many dioceses with the manpower to have staff collect mass times from every parish and mission in the diocese for every holy day - and then to deal with all the people calling to complain afterwards when those times are wrong…

Our diocesan website works very much like masstimes.org and even lets you search for adoration and confessions by day, and it is a pain to keep accurate. As awesome as masstimes.org is it was still wrong for both my parishes holy day schedules. Totally my parishes fault though, both deviated from their published “holy day” schedule. One added a mass and shifted all the others, the other made the evening mass later to accommodate more families.

Yes, it was wonderful.
The home devotion got off to a great start, the bi-lingual aspect was so seamlessly done, and the church was absolutely PACKED.
Here’s the picture of our main Statue: The Environment committee put a beautiful veil on her, and wrapped her in a blue silk tapestry, with a crown of blue roses. Beautiful lilies in front of her, and a huge arrangement of white and yellow flowers in front of the altar.
WOW! She’s beautiful!

Peace, Mark

Looked on my Diocese’s website to find Holy Day Mass times at any nearby parish that could accommodate my schedule tomorrow. …

The Diocese of Orange has this to say:

August 15, 2016 (Mon.) Solemnity of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary
Not a Holy Day of Obligation this year
In 2016, the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary falls
on a Monday and the obligation to attend mass has been lifted.

But in 2017 it is on Tuesday, so should be observed.

Whenever January 1, the solemnity of Mary, Mother of God, or August 15, the solemnity of the Assumption, or November 1, the solemnity of All Saints, falls on a Saturday or on a Monday, the precept to attend Mass is abrogated.

Still an obligation. I attended a beautiful bilingual mass with friends last night.

Holy Day of Obligation, YES. We had a sung High Mass (EF). The choir as superb!

Our priest mentioned on Sunday mass that they will have an afternoon and evening mass on the Feast of The Assumption. This is in The Netherlands as well.
