I have a strong devotion to the Archangel and have pictures of him vanquishing the devil. The only thing I want to know is if that battle was in the Bible, or was it just a legand? Please help!!!
I also have a strong devotion to St. Michael the Archangel. I just bought a St. Michael chaplet which I simply adore. It has great prayers and is easy to follow because it’s so similar to the rosary. Do you have one of those? I bought mine for $8.00 at the local Catholic bookstore.I have a strong devotion to the Archangel and have pictures of him vanquishing the devil. Here’s a problem. The whole theology on angels is very weak. As to St. Michael in Revelations. Well, some now say that book is a huge metaphore about the Mass-- the Supper of The Lamb. Interesting? Remember, all things Catholic might be open to disagreement.Revelation 12:7-8 And now war broke out in heaven, when Michael with his angels attacked the dragon. The dragon fought back with his angels, but they were defeated and driven out of heaven.
Why do you say it is weak? Here’s a problem. The whole theology on angels is very weak. As to St. Michael in Revelations. Well, some now say that book is a huge metaphore about the Mass-- the Supper of The Lamb. Interesting? Remember, all things Catholic might be open to disagreement.
Personally, I believe that “spirits” exist. after all,God sent “beings” – angels, spirits?-- many times in Scripture, but as to the existence of a “body” of beings higher than humans, but lower that God, is not clear. No harm in believing, as long as the action following from that belief does not lead e to superstitious devotions.
Check the Catholic Encyclopedia for a start. Why do you say it is weak?
It is about heiarchy. For instance, no St. has more sway with God than Mary.
Hmmm… I see. My only past source was from a Church doctor Thoas Aquinas.Check the Catholic Encyclopedia for a start.
