Why have there been no books added to the Scripture in 2000 years? Have there been no inspired works since then or do new ones not belong in scripture?

The Church teaches that, since the death of the last apostle, no further new public revelation is expected before the return of Christ (cf. Dei Verbum, 4).

The Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC) explains, “God has revealed himself fully by sending his own Son, in whom he has established his covenant for ever. The Son is his Father’s definitive Word; so there will be no further Revelation after him” (CCC 73).
