Is the Bible misogynistic?

And what does my relationship status have to do with this thread exactly? Or are you just trying to insult me by insinuating a woman would never like me?
I think if I’d written what you had and my wife had seen it, tonight I’d be sleeping where I’m writing this. On the couch. Either you keep what you post to yourself or you’re not married.

I believe that such claims as that the Bible is misogynistic are a reflection on the poor state of education in our world today rather than on what the Bible contains.

  • By “men” and “women” I am speaking about the aggregate of men and women in general and not each and every individual.
"Ladies of CAF, in general, you are all not as qualified for your jobs as men, are not as intelligent as men, don’t put in the hours as men do, and are too passive for your jobs.

Why are you guys so angry?"

Would you mind pointing to what I said that was false?
As far as my wife and I are concerned, you are wrong on seven items. Me not having a baby is correct and let me tell you in all honesty, seeing first hand the hours of labour my wife went through to deliver our two, I would give myself a diy vasectomy rather than go through what she did…

The fact that you have obviously spent some time digging up stats to prove that ‘men are better than women’ is the problem. You cannot broad brush half of the planet to try to prove a point. Especially when the point is abour misogyny. The irony is obviously lost on you.

How do we respond to claims that the Bible is misogynistic?
Perhaps by saying, “the Bible itself isn’t ‘misogynistic’, but it is a narrative of times and places in which women and their rights weren’t respected in the way that they are in 21st century western culture.”

Well that is not quite what I said. I am saying statistically speaking, if we were to evaluate everyone on this forum, there would probably be more men than women qualified for your average corporate job. Most likely the person with the highest IQ would be a man, the most aggressive person would be a man, the person willing to put more hours into a project would be a man, etc.
“Statistically speaking, ladies, you are unqualified for your jobs compared to men, not as intelligent as men, are passive, and are unwilling to put in the hours for your jobs.”
This does not mean women on this forum couldn’t outrank any men.
How we managed to do it in light of our lesser intelligence, can-do attitude, and qualifications though is a mystery.

If I make too much money, I’m lowering the number of guys I’m willing to date because they don’t make as much as me and I’m unwilling to lower my standard of living. Oh, and I’m taking a perfectly good high paying job from a man. If I make too little, it’s because I’m a woman and to be expected. Because I’m not as smart, not as aggressive, not as qualified, and I don’t put in the same hours.

We just can’t win on this site.

Men* work longer. Men also are the most intelligent**.
The real irony here is that, in a thread asking about misogyny in the Bible, we are treated to misogyny in real life.
🤦‍♂️
  • By “men” and “women” I am speaking about the aggregate of men and women in general and not each and every individual.
OK… let’s break that down. Given that there are slightly more women alive than there are men, this means that you are claiming that there are more hard-working men, in general, than there are hard-working women. That’s what “in aggregate” implies. Is that really what you’re trying to say?
** While men and women have equal average IQ scores, men have the highest (and lowest) scores while women tend to be more towards the average.
Again: “there are more intelligent men than there are intelligent women.” Seriously? That’s the hill that you want to die on?

I simply destroyed @Freddy notion that there was no “equality” because there cannot be equality given the biological predisposition of men and women.
No, you actually didn’t “destroy” anything except your own credibility as the long list of fallacies you put forth attests. You also seem to have confused “equal” with “same”. This isn’t math, it is people.

It stands to reason though that the smartest individuals would make the most money right?
Sadly, no. See: celebrities, sports stars, and arguably, politicians.
Same with the amount of time spent on work. I think the amount of women alive are more due to life expectancy.
Men take longer to mature and are more prone to taking risky actions. As you also mentioned earlier, men take on riskier jobs.

Well there are conflicting definitions of equal. Many, like @Freddy, see equal to mean the same literally. Where as others see equal to mean the same value.

Stop. Just stop. You are not helping your case at all. And the case you are putting forward is so egregiously mistaken that I really can’t even fully describe how mistaken it is.

I guess we will have to agree to disagree. I would just implore you all to look a the the data in the aggregate and that over large populations what seems like disparities or inequalities are just these traits that I have described.
