Is the Bible Sufficiently Clear?

Can everyone READ and UNDERSTAND God’s Teachings in His Bible?

No and no…

Even with the help of Tradition, Magisterium and Liturgy of the Holy Church, it is hard to understand.
 
Everyone can get the fundamentals but the depths are limitless.
 
So why then are their so many different interpretations?

To me the proper context would be from the eyes of the Church

Parts are very clear, other parts not so clear. I think it’s good to have a Study Bible on hand and to attend Bible Study at your parish if it’s available.
 
Meaning love, compassion and justice are essential for us in serving our loving God. That is fundamental.

From there we get into deeper things with which there is debate.

No.

Throughout recorded history, the world’s greatest minds have spent their entire lives trying to understand the depths of the bible.

Generation after generation of these minds has stood on the shoulders of their forebearers. And still, there are depths that have not been answered.

If anyone tells you that they have all of the answers, take what they say with a grain of salt.

Only God knows all of the answers.

Sorry to disappoint.

However, if you get a good study bible, you can make a nice start today.
 
If God were to provide an updated Bible for the 21st
century, it’d be VERY different.
But since only 38 or so yrs remain, don’t think He
will go to the trouble

Yes and No. The Bible does speak to us individually, but only when we are properly trained.

Even in the Bible, it teaches that you need to be trained how to properly read it and what it means. (St. Philip & Ethiopian eunuch - Acts 8:27)
 
I used to think so, being raised Lutheran, but as I got older, much older, it struck me that if this were the case, why were there so many groups claiming their way is the right way? Sola scriptura fell apart completely.
 
The thing is, both Testaments document the experience of a particular people and their encounter with God through out their history. As for the New Testament it’s a community that is present. The people of God is a reality. The Testaments document their origins their lives and no others can know it like they do.
