Is the Catholic Charismatic Church (sm) in full communion with Rome? Do they have apostolic succession?

He is not retired yet, as per the article, but officially 3 months from now. Check the group’s website, he has his greetings dated may 2009.
LOL
I actually read a different article from the one I quoted but I know Inquirer so I trust it as a source

Oh. There is basically a Charismatic Movement within the Church, so it is part of the Church and has been praised by Pope John Paul II and Pope Benedict XVI.

Now there is this other group called the Catholic Charismatic Church which at best is a Schismatic group. They claim Apostolic succession which I believe they received from the Old Catholics. This was the one I was talking about. If by Filipino Bishop you meant Rev. Joel Clemente, then no they are not Catholics in union with Rome.
If this is what Holly is talking about, then they definitely are not Catholic. But she gave another site for an actual charismatic group, but is not a church.

As for this Bishop Clemente, I will ask members of my family who reside there for more info about this person and his group.

I concur.

I suggest the OP do a bit of homework first before starting a new thread though it’s within her right to ask. In this case, the information in the OP is very misleading that she could be truly mixed up in this and hopefully it is not done on purpose.

The site she gave which is about Catholic Charismatic Renewal is quite clear it its presentation that it is not a church but it’s another topic altogether…

Also, what about the AORCC? More information is: Confraternity for the Latin Liturgy. I looked up the acronym online but couldn’t find the meaning. Thanks!
Holly,

Here is a link that should answer your questions and doubts:

stjamestheelderseminary.org/Holy_Church_35R4.html

They are not catholic but profess to be one.

AORCC is actually AIOCC:

We are in full communion with, and have reached a concordat with, the American Independent Old Catholic Church, headquartered in Pine Mountain Club, CA. The AIOCC has as her shepherd the Most Reverend William F. Malloy, Jr., M.Div., D.D.

Here is more info:

We confirm our valid lines of Apostolic Succession through both Orthodox and Old Catholic historic roots. During our early formation, we were part of the Catholic Charismatic Church (CCC), also called the Catholic Charismatic Church of Canada, due to its foundation being laid in Montreal.

In 2009, the Most Reverend Joel G. Clemente, D.D., was consecrated a bishop by the Most Reverend J. Paul A. Boucher, D.D., and the Most Reverend Robert J. Russell, D.D., both of whom were first ordained in the CCC and later elevated to the office of Bishop. A third co-consecrator was the Most Reverend Edward Haynes, D.D., now Patriarch of the Holy Nicene Orthodox Church.

In November, 2009, Bishop Clemente founded the Holy Catholic Charismatic Church (HCCC) under the authority of a mandate, dated November 29, 2009, issued by His Excellency the Most Reverend Edward Haynes (or “Primus ++Jacob”) of the Holy Nicene Orthodox Church [see http://holynoc.org]. Metropolitan Clemente governs through the Holy See of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, based in Pampanga, the Philippines. On February 4, 2010, Bishop-Elect Heyward B. Ewart, Ph.D., was consecrated by His Excellency as a bishop in the Holy Catholic Charismatic Church and assigned the world-wide Diocese of the Risen Lord.

Its not. I’m not even sure if they have valid orders. They have married Bishop which is a tell-tale sign that they are not in Communion with Rome. The Catholic and Orthodox Churches have not allowed married men to become Bishops for centuries now.
The fact that they have their own name, “The Charismatic Catholic Church”, is a tell-tale sign that they are not part of the Roman Catholic Church. There are many autocephalous and schismatic “churches” out there that have no connection with the authentic Catholic Church.

Churches using designations such as “Charismatic Catholic Church” or “Traditional Catholic Church” or “Anglo-Catholic Church” or anything other than “Roman Catholic Church” should immediately alert anyone to the probability that they are not connected to the Roman Catholic Church.

Within the boundaries of the diocese in which I live there exists such a church, the name of which would seem Catholic at first glance…

Our Lady of the Rosary Traditional Catholic Church

…but it is not. This church belongs to the “Traditional Catholic Church”, and not the Roman Catholic Church.

I remember, quite some time ago, about 15 to 20 years ago, one of my family members mentioned something about Charismatic Catholics or a Charismatic Catholic Church and to beware of them. So, I doubt if it is in line with Rome. Not sure though, I never gave it much thought and forgot about it until I came across this thread.

That is not a Church. That’s simply a “congress” (gathering) of Catholic Charismatics.

Hmm…much ado about nothing, perhaps?
I think the group that the starter of this thread was asking about hijacked that website to show they are associated with the catholic church in the phil. I think they are trying to hook her into joining their CCC, which is not in union with Rome.

I got more info about who the group and is in my previous threads.

Yeah…either the OP clarifies or this thread is probably dead. Thanks.

Ran across this one today:

Anne the Lay Apostle:
I was still living in the Philippines in 2005 but I’ve never heard of it.

We also had our false apparition back in the 80s. It was pretty big that time but eventually was rules a fraud. The supposed visionary eventually became transexual. I think its a cue that the apparition was indeed a fake.

Take note though that Eastern Churches doesn’t use “Roman Catholic”, but they are in full union. I myself go to a Ukrainian Catholic Church and also have been to a Chaldean Catholic Church, both in full Communion with Rome.

edit:

Further, some Eastern Churches may want to shed the notion that they are confined to a specific ethnicity, and may refer themselves by their Liturgical Rite. So there are also “Byzantine Catholic Church” parishes out there, which are also in full communion with Rome and are actually a part of one of the 22 sui juris Churches. They do this sometimes to attract parishioners who are not ethnically from their patriarchal homeland.

Are they sedevacantists?

There are many valid and recognized Charismatic movements within the Catholic Church. But they would never call themselves a “Charismatic Church”. The normal title would be “Charismatic Movement”. The Philippines actually has a number of hugely popular Catholic Charismatic Movements, all supported by the Vatican and the local Bishops.
