Is The Catholic Church Evil?

I got in an debate with someone on the internet over religion, I know it’s like I was asking for trouble, and he was a Baptist. He was claiming that the Catholic Church is the home of the ‘children of Satan’ due to the belief in good works must be done, as well as butchering the Lord’s words.He also stated there was something in Revelations to back this up, but failed to give references when asked. He also said Jesus did not start the RCC, despite Matthew 16. My head hurts from thinking of everything and doubting. I have faith in Jesus.
