Hello

As always, let me say that English is not my first language, I’m taking a course to learn the English language, so I apologize for any misspellings.

I watched video an hour ago and it was very strange and tacky with that dramatic soundtrack. Anyway, it says that the first beast that in the book of Revelation is the Catholic Church.

I’m sure that some of you have already talked about the subject, so please if anyone could lead me to that topic. I would be very thankful.

May God bless you all.

Who is the beast in Revelations, is an uncertain question that nobody knows the answer to.

At the time of the protestant reformation a lot of mud slinging occurred and this was similar to one of their arguments. There is an older version of the King James Bible which addresses “that antichrist in Rome.” Through time many of the older mainline protestant denominations have thankfully, abandoned that position, and are seeking ecumenism. They accept us as christian and we accept them as brethern, although separated and there is room for dialogue. Unfortunately, after the original protestant separation, splits continued to occur as one denomination after another chased after their interpretation of scripture and some almost cultlike churches occured. One of those splits occurred and produced Darbyism a belief whose followers could have produced that film. The Church believes that Christ will come again and we recite this every Sunday at mass. They renounce Satan and they believe there will be a real antichrist. The antichrist will not be a part of any group that loves Jesus and attempts to keep his commands.

Check out this thread. It gives many good links to sites containing information on the Catholic interpretation. forums.catholic-questions.org/showthread.php?t=742214&highlight=antichrist

The one thing I might add here is about the founder of Darbyism and his teachings.

John Nelson Darby, a former Anglican minister from England, came to the US five times between 1862 and 1877, and preached his Dispensationalist theology to Americans during the Civil War and its aftermath, a time of devastation and upheaval greater than any in American history. His teachings were made popular afterward by the Scofield Reference Bible.

"As there was no Christian teaching of a “rapture” before Darby began preaching about it in the 1830s[citation needed], he is sometimes credited with originating the ‘secret rapture’ theory wherein Christ will suddenly remove His bride, the Church, from this world before the judgments of the tribulation. Some claim that this book was the origin of the idea of the ‘rapture.’ "—Wikipedia

The funny thing is that the Catholic Church is the Church that produced the New Testament and chose the set of inspired works that make the bible, and these people think that Revelation (which came from the Church) says the Church is the first beast?

That just shows pure T ignorance concerning the history of the Church.

This kind of perverted history and understanding of the Book of Revelation is believed by a** minority** of evangelical non-denominational Christians (but not all of them).

Here is some commentary from 'The New Interpreter’s Study Bible’ (which is a balanced ecumenical Bible).

**Rev. 13:1-10 ** The imagery suggests the Roman Empire, especially Emperor Nero, who had killed himself but was widely believed to still be alive (cf. v.3). In John’s perspective, the empire receives it’s power from Satan and to participate in its worship is to worship Satan (for other views, see Mark 12:13-17; Rom 13:1-7; 1 Pet 2:13-17).

If you want to read a book about the Book of Revelation (that is not Catholic) that is written by a Lutheran New Testament professor, it is called** ‘Revelation and the End of All Things’ by Craig R. Koester.** This will give you a balanced understanding of what most Christian theologians believe is the message the Book of Revelation is trying to convey to us.
