Is the Catholic League a Good Thing?

Is Bill Donahue’s organization The Catholic League a good thing? Because it seems that the League’s opponents are very against them. Also do their efforts actually help stop anti-Catholicism?
 
Yes, the Catholic League does much good work. That is one of the reasons it draws enemies.
 
Good Question! Mr Donahue is certainly very vocal and not always the most diplomatic in his statements, which tends to draw fire from and even angers and alienates some people. But the reason he and his organization are still important, is because he makes it evident that the Church will not go away and simply shut up about the things the society doesnt want to hear , such as sin and God! He also helps Catholics hear the truth as opposed to the spin the main stream media spews out ever day, and he gives a strong example of how to stand up to bullies who constantly try to intimidate the Church into submission, such as standing up to atheists in Time Square with billboards that counteract their Godless lies, and by standing up to the gay lobby who constantly want to yell and scream about tolerance yet persist day in a day out with complete intolerance for anyone who disagrees with their agenda. Bill Donahue reminds us that we have a God given and Constitutional right to stand up for our beliefs , our religious beliefs in the public square! Separation of Church and state does NOT deny us the right to have a voice in public policy simply because our values originate from God! The media and people like those in GLAAD , People for the so called American Way want to try to convince Americans that we have to keep our faith hidden in the Church! That is NOT Constitutional! Bill Donahue and he Catholic League provides a constant push back against those fighting to tear down our Catholic faith and limit our voice in the public square. We need such an organization as much as when there was outright UN Constitutional restrictions against the Church, before that is allowed to happen again! Bill Donahue, albeit boisterous , somewhat cantankerous at times may be be the flash point for those already hate the Church but the goal and objective of the Catholic League is not to make friends of the Church, that is your and my job, but rather his job is to ensure the troops stay armed, in good spirits and informed about where the battles must take place. Such an organization is not meant to win the hearts of mind of the enemy. Tom Peters and Catholics Come Home and similar organizations are better suited to conversion! But we should all be a little bit Catholic League and a little bit Catholics Come Home!

Yes, it’s good. Mr. Donohue uses his “New York Attitude” to speak up for the Church. His critics don’t like that! :bigyikes:
