I am asking Protestants in this forum. Do you believe the Mary that we adore a devil?

I got this quote “The Catholic Mary is a devil!” directly from an Anti-Catholic website.

It is very upsetting for them to say Jesus is the Lord, but calling Mary, His Mother, a Devil…

Maybe some of you could help me know why they consider us adoring a devil?

I hope the supporters of that website have “Asbestos Underwear”!

doing a google search on
“The Catholic Mary a devil!”
produces the same propaganda on some other websites as well.

I hope they all have asbestos underwear.

Aren’t there apparitions that claim to be Mary that the catholic church acknowledge and ones that they do not. Meaning, there are apparitions that the catholic church do not acknowledge because the message contradicts the church?

What do catholics consider of those apparitions that claim to be Mary that the church denies? If the church denies the apparition because the message is wrong, then what is that spirit?

Is that calling Mary a devil?

Most non-catholic Christians hold Mary in high regard, but do not believe the Mary represented by the catholic church is that Mary. Their intention is not to bash, you just position it that way.

Most catholic apologists position a protestant disagreement as bashing, playing the role of victim. But a catholic disagreeing with a protestant position is ok.

I ?
I am a lifetime Catholic, who has spent a lifetime evangelizing and educating Catholics, and I do not “adore” Mary, I know of no Catholics who “adore” Mary so why the inflammatory nature of your question?

Well. I do adore Mary (with hyperdulia, as opposed to the dulia of the saints, and ‘below’ the latria adoration which is to God alone).

Approved apparitions are certainly not of the devil; unapproved may be satanic but may also be simply delusions (non satanic) of the person(s) involved.

The Mary whom we recognize as Mother of God, Queen of heaven, Spouse of the Holy Spirit, and God’s most perfect creature, is the real Mary. People may have wrong ideas about her, but that doesn’t mean that there are ‘different Marys’, ie. Catholic and Protestant etc.

Even if there were some unapproved apparitions, and even if those apparitions claimed to be Mary, that has no effect whatsoever on the “real” Mary. After all, many have claimed, and still claim, to be Jesus Christ–who is GOD–and nobody questions whether because of these apparitions that the ‘real Christ’ is of the devil, right?

This is just worldly logic, the same type of attitude that says different religions worship the same god in different ways, call him by the same name, give him often conflicting attributes, and making him into a god with Multiple personality disorder.

But people should not bring this up, and just pray together for the sake of unity.

Yes, proves the point I am making. I am sure some follower of a person claiming to be Jesus might get offended by your comment.

Many Christians feel that apparitions approved by the RCC contradict the things in the Bible, so using the same logic, they attribute those apparitions as demons. It has no affect on the real Mary, and is not meant to bash.

Well how do we know that the Angel Gabriel wasn’t the devil ?

Why would Protestants believe he wasn’t ? as I’m sure they don’t.

the latin words are precise, English terms like adore and worship are much less precise and capable of misinterpretation and misuse, I was responding to OP.

Does ‘adore’ means only ‘worship’?
I didn’t mean worship. I don’t know what other word I should use.

I was just thinking the simple way of an affection as in “I Love her”…or “I adore her”.

Because most protestants treat the Bible as their authority, while catholics treat the Pope and Magesterium as the authority.

It is not either/or. For Catholics, *The Deposit of Faith *is what is authoritative. The Deposit of Faith includes both the bible and the sacred tradition passed down from the apostles through their successors, the bishops.

Hope this helps,
Paul

Red Herring

Protestants treat an inanimate object as their sole Authority.

Catholics treat the Bible, the Magisterium(whom established under the guidance of Holy Spirit the Canon of Scripture) as it’s authority.

Not At All
As a matter of fact I have talked to her myself.

It is wrong and they will have God to answer to.
Maybe some of you could help me know why they consider us adoring a devil?
I wish I could tell you.

I love Mary. I think she is soooooooooo hott. I like her immaculate heart. To me it symbolizes a heart filled with fire, with passion bound by the holy spirit. She is so foxy. Me love her long time.

With the scars in her hands it looks like they are trying to say that she is the one who died on the cross. Which is obviously not right.
