Is "The Catholic Mary a devil!" to you?

I am asking Protestants in this forum. Do you believe the Mary that we adore a devil?

I got this quote “The Catholic Mary is a devil!” directly from an Anti-Catholic website.

It is very upsetting for them to say Jesus is the Lord, but calling Mary, His Mother, a Devil…

Maybe some of you could help me know why they consider us adoring a devil?
Adoration is due to God alone. The Catholic Church does not teach that we, as Christians, should adore the Blessed Mother.

This picture prompted the post on a very anti-catholic website:

What is the source of this picture?
That is not a picture of the Blessed Mother, but an icon that has been altered, possibly by a well meaning Catholic of a Mexican saint who had the stigmata. This icon is often used in anti-Catholic polemics but is totally dishonest. I will have to dig around a bit to get her name.

Please do. This should be refuted with all due haste.

Exactly. It is amazing that, if the contention is that we Catholics are so inculcated in “Mary worship”, that certain people/groups cannot find any ‘real’ pictures of that so-called worship and have to stoop to lies, cheats, distortions, and fakery to attempt to prove their claims. . .

I believe I had explained in other reply that I must’ve used the wrong word. I simply translate how I say in my mother language to English. Obviously, there is another way to say in English. Anyhow, thank you for explaining.

If you look at the picture, the blue banner at the bottom is an add-on to the picture.

I believe the image might originate from this SUPER BAD Anti Catholic .

But, wait, you say, only Jesus, Who was crucified on the cross, can be the Mediator between God and man! Mary has never been on the cross, so she cannot qualify as Mediatrix. You need Mary on the cross? Since we have consistently re-written the Bible and history many times over the past 1,400 years, it will not be difficult at all for Mary to be on a cross. ** See this picture? Mary has been on the cross, and is showing you her wounds. Worship Mary, Mediatrix **.
On that link, the writer tried to compare how Catholic worshiped Mary as God…and probably from his conclusion, he or somebody tried to come up what Mary would’ve looked like if someone worships her.

The picture above does not have the blue banner at the bottom - they just added to it.

I feel so bad for these people. They have no idea that they are wasting the gift given by God to them - for them to know God and now they are so deceived by Satan and trying so hard to bring divisions among Christians.

There are two main flaws on the picture from the anti Catholic site:

**
  1. From the anti-catholic site’s picture, if you look closely, there are 8 wounds piercing her heart. **
Normally, we would describe Virgin Mary with 7 wounds or one wound to the heart…no stigmata.
**
2 - Furthermore, the picture describe her as a “happy” lady…you can see that she is smiling.

For us, the wounded heart goes with her very sad face.
**

This does make sense since they have no relationship with the Mother of God, they don’t know what she had to go through.

Of course not!

I believe that she was an extraordinarily godly woman, and an excellent role model. I think most other mainstream Protestants would probably back this up, and such a description hardly sounds like that of a devil to me.

Ranting, extremist websites should not be taken as examples of what all Protestants believe.

We venerate the saints. 😉

What do you mean by “…most protestants treat the Bible as authority.”
Most sincerely,
Renee
Because most protestants treat the Bible as their authority, while catholics treat the Pope and Magesterium as the authority.

Luke Chapter 2 verse 35:

Simeon to Mary,
**
And thy own soul a sword shall pierce, that, out of many hearts, thoughts may be revealed.**

This does make sense since they have no relationship with the Mother of God, they don’t know what she had to go through.

I am in total agreement here. I distinctly remember reading a thread here on this very topic (a Mexican saint with stigmata used for anti-Catholic Mary bashing on Protestant sites). I just spent an hour searching both Catholic Answers and Google and I can’t find it. I know it had a picture that was different from this one.

If anyone else runs across the info on the saint, please post a link!

P.S. The movie Stigmata has been the bane of my searching existence for the last hour!

So, since Mother Mary brought me to the Catholic Faith, meaning that I know worship Jesus as GOD, I should abandon the Faith, and revert back to my pagan ways?

Is THAT what Protestantism is all about?

It’s all about the refusal to worship Jesus, and to pledge unending worship and praise to Martin Luther? Or is it John Calvin? Or Pat Robertson?!?!? I’m so confused, who should I worship? Which of those men are worshipful?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Thank you for asking that. I bet many will ignore you for this. Because if they agree that Mother Mary brought you to Jesus, they would agree with us that there is nothing wrong about Her helping us know God and that she hears our prayer. On the other hand, I know there are protestants out there who are as happy as we are to see you as a Christian.
