Is The Chapel Veil Coming Back?

Agreed. I can safely say that I’ve experienced some of those blessings too. Praise God!
 
so it looks like all signs point to YES if you want to have and promote an even deeper love for God. the question is, who is brave enough to start wearing one?

now that i think about it, i should start complimenting those of you who do wear it. hopefully it will encourage and bring about a smile… and a good conversation starter. 😃
 
LOL! Thanks! I must admit I was always afraid of wearing it when I first started, especially since I was always the youngest person with one if anyone else was even wearing them too.

We asked the priest what they were for and they were hat clips for men. All the men had to sit on one side and the women on the other up until 1950’s

The parish I grew up in which recently closed was built in the 1920’s. The hat clips were in all of the pews.

I would agree that I’ve experienced these blessings as well since I’ve started covering my head at Mass. Especially the lack of chit chat - I just don’t feel right chatting away when my head is covered - I’m much more focused on Who I’m truly there for.

I have heard that women who “veil” usually don’t have problems with people invading thier prayer time before Mass…To me this speaks volumes.

I’ve never really thought about that before, but you are correct. I’ve never been bothered while in prayer, before or after Mass, when my head is covered. But I’ve been tapped on the shoulder more than a few times in the past (WHILE ON MY KNEES IN PRAYER) before I started covering my head. Hmmm - interesting.

the veil unfailingly promotes a deeper love of God? this is presumptuous, i think. how might one know that the unveiled head is not attached to a heart that’s burning with love of God? in fact, it is not my business to consider the depths of your relationship with God (unless in some way your relationship with God is of public interest-- like M.Theresa of JPII, etc.) as for bravery, if I were compelled to wear a veil at Mass, no bravery would be required. only obedience to God’s direction to me.

as for the compliments, please don’t. the women who cover their heads at Mass are doing so, in part, to increase modesty. respecting modesty requires us to leave it unmentioned.

in fact, if people were beginning to make a public approval of covering one’s head at Mass, I would personally avoid it even more. As I had written, my family and I already receive too much attention at Mass.
 
Yeah, the veil seems to say, “Sorry, I can’t talk to you now because I’m talking to God.” 😃

My daughter and I are planning to go to a Traditional Parish and I’ve noted that all the little girls and women wear Veils.

Could someone give me some suggestions on how I might equip my daughter for attending High Mass at this Traditional Parish?

Eastern men often have a prayer rope in their hands. We are not to pray on our knees on Sunday so…
I think I might stand six inches from the wall and just stare at the icons on the wall.

If by “equip my daughter” you mean “Where can I find veils?”, you can find some nice, not-too-expensive ones here: modestyveils.com/

If you mean, “How can I get her to wear a veil?”, just ask her, and let her help pick one out. Don’t force the issue; it’s not required to wear a veil, but a wonderful sign of our dignity as Catholic women.

If you mean, “How can I get her to like the traditional Latin Mass?”, you may be surprised. I took my daughters to their first TLM a little over a year ago, and the older one (about 20 years old) liked it LOTS better than the Novus Ordo Mass (she has always hated “happy clappy” music), and the younger one (17) liked it just fine. Just bring her along, no big deal, and let the Holy Spirit do the rest. You might want to get her her own Latin/English side-by-side translation booklet so she doesn’t feel lost. Here’s a paperback that’s not too expensive: allcatholicbooks.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=ACB&Product_Code=R25x8j&Category_Code= It doesn’t have the proper parts of the Mass that change each week (Epistle, Gospel, proper prayers), but at least she will be able to follow along with most of the Mass.
 
Here is an eBay seller who makes chapel veils: stores.ebay.com/CATHOLIC-TRADITIONS I understand someone from here on CA has purchased from her before and has been happy with the quality. I believe her veils come in sizes too if I recall correctly, so a small one would be good for a child. And she has many colors too, so you could have your daughter pick what she likes. I’ve seen the little girls wear pink and light blue, and some with little bow clips to keep them on their heads.
