I live in an extremely liberal diocese. I had never seen a mantilla in worn in or anywhere near my diocese. THis past labor day…I saw younger women (30s and 40s) at a nearby parish wearing them when I was visiting city. Interestingly the city is a liberal university town.
I am sure the handful of feminists that run our chancery are scratching their heads on the re-introductin of mantillas.
Based on the nature of My diocese I think it is a safe bet to say if it is happening here then its going to happen anywhere. It is likely a growing trend…it will take a long time…but I was (happily) astounded to see the practice happening here.
