…I’m stealing this.Insofar as it’s a catechetical problem, I’d characterize it as something like “High information, low formation.”
I think laypeople in person can be somewhat guilty of this too. People tend to provide information, not in a comprehensive manner, but in a way aimed at fixing what they see to be the greatest problem or danger.
I know in my own background it can also get mixed with outside ideas of God, perhaps coming from a non-Catholic faith influence or from family experiences. I’m hardly the only one who had to be untaught faith as much as taught it.
