Not the first of OT. OT began back in January
Tomorrow, IMS, will be a Monday in OT, and a week from now we will be in the ?? Sunday in OT (not the 1st).

It is over, our priest already turned around the crucifix so that the crucified Christ is what is on the crucifix vs. the resurrected Christ.

I’ve learned they’ve recently adopted the “Ordinary Time” language, but when I was growing up in the United Methodist Church we called Sundays of the first stretch of Ordinary Time “the First Sunday after Epiphany”, “the Second Sunday after Epiphany”, etc., and then during the second stretch it was “the First Sunday after Pentecost”, “the Second Sunday after Pentecost”, etc. I believe the Catholic Church used the same language farther back in history, before the modern liturgical calendar. That makes it sound as though Pentecost is the last day of the Easter Season, but on the other hand Pentecost being the inauguration of the main stretch of Ordinary Time makes intuitive sense to me.
Edit: A Google search reveals statements about Pentecost “concluding” the Easter Season, or saying the season extends from Easter Sunday to Pentecost, so I’m guessing it is considered to still be part of the Easter season. On a lighter note, I found out the old name in English for Pentecost, still used in England (with what frequency I don’t know) is Whitsunday, or simply Whitsun. How cool is that?

Officially, Easter season ends after 2nd Vespers (Evening Prayer) on Pentecost Sunday (according to my Breviary at least).

Not quite. We are entering the 8th week in Ordinary Time. Next Sunday is Holy Trinity Sunday, not the 9th Sunday in OT. Before Vatican II time when Pentecost had an Octave, it was the last day of the Octave.Not the first of OT. OT began back in January

The Octave has disappeared, but Trinity Sunday remains.
Thursday of the 9th week (this year) is Corpus Christi, which may be transferred to Sunday in many locales. If that’s the case then you won’t see a Sunday in OT for another two weeks yet.

It is a traditional practice in all Byzantine Rite and Eastern Orthodox Churches.

Well, the corpus from the crucifix that was taken down before Easter is now going to be put back up sometime this week. I was there when they took it down, and it looks like putting it back up won’t be so easy.

It’s this kind of silliness that started happening a few decades ago, representing a break with tradition regarding the crucifix required to be present at every Mass in the Latin Church. I suppose you could call it a “Byzantization” if it weren’t for the fact that most of these are 3D statues unlike anything found in the Byzantine rite.

Actually I did think it was “Byzantization” of the Latin Church. I had wondered if this is where they got this type of Crucifix from the Byzantine Church.
I do not know much about the Eastern Churches.

Also, I was a member of a parish that thought it was cool to leave the resurrected corpus on the Cross all year long, without regard to the liturgical season, so to me, this is an abuse.

I can see this being used for Easter Season.
I too would have a problem if it was left up all year, and most especially during Lent.

Our icon crucifix has the same image, only in 2-dimension. So what is so bad about it? I would say the only wrong thing is if its used outside of the Paschal Season which many parishes do. But otherwise this is a perfect Latinized version of what the Eastern Churches use.
