Is the eastern orthodox and ethiopian orthodox as old or older than the catholic church?

I was emailing with a guy about the history of the Catholic Church and he said:

“actually, the eastern orthodox and ethiopian orthodox are as old or older than the catholic church. the first non isrealite to become a christian was actually an ethiopian eunic, who was not the first gentile to become christian since the ethiopians are decended from jews also.”

Is this true? If not when did those churches start? Thanks

The birth of the Catholic Church was at Pentecost following Jwsus’ ascension. These other churches, which were new parts of the Catholic Church were formed later in time as the Catholic Church spread from Palestine into neighboring Countries. The early Christian Church spread and in time was called Catholic. The name Catholic was appended to the Christian Church later in time, but it was still the original Church founded by Jesus Christ.

Weren’t the orthodox and Catholic church the same church until they split over the papal question? These churches maybe consider the same age as the Catholic church but I don’t think they can be older. I think the Catholic church’s birthday is pentecost, 33 AD? Wasn’t the Roman Cornelius the first convert.

Every Apostolic Church can trace its roots back to the original Apostles – that’s what makes it an Apostolic Church. The Eastern Orthodox and Ethiopian Orthodox Churches are Apostolic Churches.

In 451 there was an Ecumenical Council held at Chalcedon on the topic of Christology. Due to a difference in language the Oriental Orthodox Churches (which includes the Coptic Orthodox Church) formed a schism in the Church which exists to this day. The Ethiopian Orthodox Church was until the 20th century dependent upon the Coptic Orthodox Church.

In 1054 there was the schism between the Eastern Orthodox Church and the Catholic Church, a schism which also exists to this day.
